The Exploration And Practice Of Rongchang Ramie In Interior Furnishings Design

With a superior geographical location and a long textile tradition,Rongchang,which is hailed as “the Hometown of Ramie”,has gathered ramie production.In comparison to the increase of machine-made textile products along with the development of society and the constant improvement of science and technology,Rongchang ramie,as a kind of traditional hand-woven product,has lost its market competitiveness,resulting in the decline of its output day by day.Currently,local citizens,especially the young people,are unwilling to engage in this “boring” and “low-income” ramie weaving job.For the reasons above,there may be no successor for Rongchang ramie.In consideration of the above,modern design methods need to be taken to enlarge the application space of Rongchang ramie.Its added value needs to be improved through innovation so as to increase the economic benefits of the local citizens engaged in ramie weaving and production and finally protect,inherit and revitalize this excellent traditional handicraft.By taking Rongchang ramie materials as the entry point in this study,the experiment and exploration on the form of manifestation of Rongchang ramie in interior furnishings design were made based on performance characteristics of ramie materials using modern decorative design method,so as to enlarge the applicability of Rongchang ramie and diversify its visual appearance.Firstly,relevant theoretical and practical materials concerning Rongchang ramie were collected to know its history and current development status.Then,the perspectives based on which other researchers explore and study Rongchang ramie were analyzed to find new breakthrough points for further exploration,which means exploration and practice of Rongchang ramie in interior furnishings design.Secondly,based on the current development trend of interior furnishings design,the advantages of Rongchang Ramie in the application to interior furnishings design are described from such aspects as the superiority of materials,full cultural connotation and flexible form of manifestation through case analysis,in order to provide theoretical support for personal practices.Thirdly,the experimental exploration on the design method and fabric color performance of Rongchang ramie materials was made to provide practice support for personal creation---the research on the use of Rongchang ramie in interior furnishings design.Lastly,the value of Rongchang ramie in interior furnishings design was concluded through personal creation and practice.The in-depth exploration and research of Rongchang ramie can not only enrich the form of manifestation of this material,enlarge its applicability and increase its added value,but open up a new path for its heritance and prosperity.
