The aggravating trend of aging population in china. In addition,The high-speed urbanization and acute compotation in recent decades in China has led to the prevalence of sub-health lifestyle in local residents, which works as one of the leading factors for chronic diseases.Against this backdrop, deciphering the relationship between built environments and elderly residents’ health status is of importance for crafting proactive interventions. The existing literature on this topic indicate that the built environment may have an effect on residents to suffer from a single chronic disease, but research on this topic in China is still in its infancy. Most of the overseas studies mainly used single chronic illness level as the measure of elderly residents’ health. This study was designed to understand elderly residents’ health status from a more comprehensive perspective.According to the literature on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),TCM constitution can reflect elderly residents’ tendency of getting chronic diseases and present human health status from a comprehensive perspective. This study aims to deciphering the relationship between built environment and elderly residents’ health from the perspective of TCM constitution,so as to explore how the attributes of built environment may affect elderly residents’ health status. We used Zhanjiang city in China as a study site, and analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics of the elderly residents’ constitution from the macro and micro perspectives. We analyzed the characteristics of the physical examination data,in terms of age, gender,BMI and living area.In terms of the built environment around the residents,We analyzed the spatial location information and the built environment data, and compared the living environment differences of elderly residents’ constitution at the physical activity environment, dietary environment, and physical environment.Based on the above-mentioned spatial distribution characteristics, the associations between built environment factors and elderly residents’ constitution were analyzed. And we put forward the theoretical basis for constructing built environment factors model that affects elderly residents’ constitution.Combined with the relevant research of public health,We further screened out the built environment attributes that may affect elderly residents’ TCM constitution, and Spearman correlation analysis model and binary Logistic regression model was constructed to explore and understand their relationship combined with TCM theory. It is found that the elderly residents’ constitution may be affected by many environmental factors, such as natural environment, road density, construction density,Green Looking Ratio, and two dietary environments(" XIN " and "KU ")and so on.Then, through the comprehensive analysis of the environmental impact factors. After the system of comprehensive analysis of the built environment related factors,The physical activity environment, the diet environment and the landscape environment all act on the living environment of the elderly residents. This study proposed relevant strategies on community planning and design to improve elderly residents’ health status and promote the overall health level in Zhanjiang city.
