With the increasing maturity of artificial intelligence and electronic information technology,unmanned equipment is more and more widely used in the execution of tasks,and unmanned boats are one of the popular new water equipment,which are usually used in reconnaissance,survey,rescue and other tasks in far deep waters.The sea conditions in which the unmanned boat performs its tasks make it necessary to have a high self-righting performance,so the study of the self-righting performance of the unmanned boat is of great importance.In this paper,the factors affecting the self-righting performance of an unmanned boat in still water are investigated,and the self-righting process is simulated after the application of wave disturbance as follows:1)The calculation idea of the recovery force arm in the self-righting process of the ship is analyzed and its calculation formula is given.It is considered that if the recovery force arm of the ship keeps a positive value at any value in the range of 0 degree to 180 degree of the cross-tilt angle,then it can be said that the ship has self-righting ability.2)In MAXSURF software,the recovery force arm curves in still water with different displacement and center of gravity positions only were calculated,and the effects of changes in displacement and center of gravity positions on the recovery force arm curves of unmanned boats were analyzed,and then the recovery force arm curves of unmanned boats under four actual operating conditions were calculated and the rationality of the calculated curves was analyzed.Then we analyze whether the unmanned boat has self-righting capability and the advantages and disadvantages of self-righting performance in comparison with the four working conditions.3)In STAR CCM+ software,the self-righting motion of the unmanned boat under four actual conditions was calculated after being disturbed by small waves,and it was analyzed whether the unmanned boat could return to the positive floating equilibrium position after considering the effect of inertia if one section of the recovery arm curve was negative.Then,the advantages and disadvantages of the self-righting performance of the unmanned boat under the four operating conditions are analyzed according to the calculated recovery times,and compared with the advantages and disadvantages in static water.
