In recent years, numerous public emergencies frequently occur at complex urban public spaces(CUPSs),which cause escalating economic and human losses, and simultaneously affect the social stability and economic development. The concept of“resilience” provides new research directions in the filed of urban disaster management.Findings from existing studies reveal that the research objects of resilience theory mainly concentrate on a city or urban cluster, community, and infrastructure, and its contents include theoretical resilience framework, resilience assessment, and resilience development path, etc. As the urban subsystem, there is a lack of resilience research on CUPSs,and fewer studies focused on the link between system resilience and disaster levels.Under the above background, the quantitative resilience assessment and dynamic resilience simulation were conducted in this study, which formulated the comprehensive resilience assessment model of CUPSs.The main contents are shown as follows.Firstly, combining with the characteristics of CUPSs,the resilience assessment indicator system of CUPSs was established through various research methods, such as literature analysis and field investigation, etc.According to the implication of resilience,a hybrid approach combining the Analytic Network Process(ANP)and the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory(DEMATEL)was adopted to develop a resilience assessment solution. Finally, the quantitative resilience assessment submodel of CUPSs was constructed, which can determine the resilience level of CUPSs.Secondly, considering the characteristics of CUPSs,the dynamic simulation of the system disaster response process was conducted. From the perspective of the whole process of emergence, this thesis defined resilience modeling functions of CUPSs.Then the dynamic resilience simulation model of CUPSs was established. Finally, the Monte Carlo method was adopted to simulate the resilience level of CUPSs under different levels of specific disaster scenarios. Thus, the dynamic resilience simulation submodel of CUPSs was constructed, which can determine the correspondence between system resilience and specific disaster levels.Thirdly, taking a light rail transit transfer station in Chongqing as the case study, the quantitative resilience assessment and dynamic resilience simulation were conducted to demonstrate the comprehensive resilience assessment model of CUPSs.The result of the resilience assessment shows that system preparedness ability is less than its vulnerability and the station was less resilient to disasters. The results of the resilience simulation indicate that floods of levels 1,2,and 3 cause slight damages to the function of each subsystem, and the rail transit station could quickly recover to the normal operation condition. When the flood degree is over level 3,more serious impacts on the function level of each subsystem will be caused, which may lead to a long recovery process. As a result, the resilience level of the station and the level of flood disaster that it can handle were obtained. In summary, through quantitative assessment and dynamic simulation of the resilience of CUPSs,a comprehensive assessment model of CUPSs was established, and the resilience level of CUPSs and its corresponding relationship with the level of specific disasters were determined. This model provides certain references for the quantitative research on resilience in other urban areas, and is of reference significance for the risk management and control, emergency rescue, and post-disaster recovery of CUPSs.
