During the Covid-19 pandemic,there have been frequent cases of virus contaminating the commodity packaging,which has drawn high attention and concern over the safety of product packaging.In the circumstance of this unforeseeable issue,supporting by the user research theory,this paper takes the portable shopping cart as the object to carry out the innovative design with disinfection function to effectively guarantee people’s health and safety when shopping.The purpose and the content of user research in each stage of the product life cycle are found through literature research that methods of user research are divided into two dimensions,qualitative and quantitative,and behaviour and attitude.The design process of portable disinfection shopping cart based on user research theory is clarified.Questionnaire survey and user interview were used to obtain user background information from quantitative and qualitative perspectives,to dig out the main issue users have encountered when using portable shopping cart,and to summarize user segmentations to determine the target group.Establishing the target consumer’s profile by analysing their biological,psychological,and behavioural characteristics.The user’s shopping behaviour of with portable shopping cart was tracked and observed by applying the behaviour observation experiment,then the user experience map can be drawn to analyse user’s emotional change in different stages of shopping,and thus the consumer’s demand can be determined.KANO model is used to analyze the user satisfaction and determine the classification of user demand.Through literature review,the principle and application field of physical and chemical disinfection method are studied,and the selection principle of disinfection method is put forward.According to the principle,ultraviolet disinfection and ozone disinfection are selected for the portable disinfection shopping cart.In the design practice,based on the consumer demand,the disinfection function,telescoping function,shopping bag rotation function were settled as the functions of the product.Based on the principle of ergonomics,the man-machine relationship of portable disinfection shopping cart is analyzed.The function,process and storage bag of each wheel frame are defined according to the function,process and storage bag of each wheel frame.Likert scale was used to evaluate the user satisfaction about the preliminary design,and optimized the design according to the evaluation results.The final design of portable disinfection shopping cart was completed and the design goal was achieved.
