| Chinese traditional architecture uses mortise and tenon as the connection between components.The shape,size,production principle and production technology of mortise and tenon are the key to the stable connection of components.Based on field research and interviews,this paper studies the tenon and mortise techniques of wooden frame of traditional architecture in Zhangzhou and Quanzhou in Southern Fujian.This paper points out that the tenon and mortise skills of traditional craftsmen in Southern Fujian are embodied by a set of procedures.The methods are as follows:determining the spatial position of components by drawing system,determining the shape of tenon and mortise by the position of component connection,determining the size of tenon and mortise by the form(size)of component stress,determining the combination mode of tenon and mortise by mechanical principle,and completing tenon and mortise production by inherent process Check and install.Based on the comparison of the data collected by Zhangzhou and Quanzhou craftsmen one by one,the paper restores the process of tenon and mortise production,check and installation,shows the specific methods of its use and the solutions of the influence of wood characteristics on tenon and mortise combination,and clarifies the construction logic of large wooden frame.Through the analysis,it is found that the mortise and tenon size and component size are standardized and modular,and standardization is also reflected in the production,check and installation process,which is compatible with the component organization.The tenon and mortise technology is the key and essence of traditional architectural structure carpentry technology.The research and sorting of its process has a clear meaning and value for the continuation and protection of traditional architecture techniques in Southern Fujian. |
