The reform of “delegating management and service” for road passenger transportation continued to advance, and the demand for passenger vehicles increased year by year. The vigorous development of road passenger transportation has brought convenience to people’s travel on the one hand, but on the other hand, traffic safety problems have become more and more prominent, and the level of traffic safety supervision of operating vehicles needs to be improved urgently. As the operator of the vehicle, the driver’s driving behavior is the most important factor affecting traffic. At the same time, the impact of weather, road, vehicle, and other external environmental factors on traffic safety cannot be ignored. Many scholars have conducted research on driving behavior. However, limited by the latitude and size of the data, the current recognition of driving behavior is not objective and comprehensive, and most of them only analyze the impact of a single factor on driving behavior, which is quite different from the actual situation. At the same time, there is a lack of analysis and evaluation research on the driving behavior of commercial bus drivers under the influence of the external environment. Therefore, considering the impact of the external environment to study the driving behavior of bus drivers and identify their safety tendencies,it is of practical significance to strengthen the awareness of bus drivers to actively prevent and control risks, and to improve the safety supervision capabilities of traffic control departments and transportation companies.Based on the natural driving data of commercial passenger car drivers, this paper identifies seven kinds of bad driving behaviors, including rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration, and idling, and matches the driving data with weather and road conditions data to analyze the impact of the external environment on driving behavior.Establish driver safety tendency evaluation model and analyze the influence of external environment on drivers with different safety tendency. Finally,a prediction and evaluation model of driving behavior safety tendency of commercial passenger car drivers under different external environments is constructed to achieve a more accurate and scientific prediction of the safety tendency of commercial passenger car drivers. The main content and results of this article are as follows:(1)A method for identifying and correcting abnormal latitude and longitude is proposed, which analyzes the characteristics of common bad driving behaviors, and extracts the characteristic parameters of bad driving behaviors based on the preprocessed natural driving data to provide theoretical and algorithmic support for driving behavior research.(2)A method of matching the external environment and driving data is proposed to analyze the influence of the external environment on the driving behavior of the operating bus driver. The study found that under bad weather conditions, the number of bad driving behaviors of commercial bus drivers increased sharply acceleration, sharp deceleration, long idling, and sharp lane changes, while fatigue driving behavior did not change much, while the number of speeding behaviors decreased.Road conditions have little effect on the driving behavior of operating bus drivers.(3)A model for evaluating and predicting the driving behavior of commercial bus drivers considering the external environment is proposed, which divides driver tendencies into three typical categories, and analyzes the impact of the external environment on drivers with different safety tendencies. And establish the driver’s safety tendency prediction and evaluation model in different external environments. The study found that the accuracy of predictive evaluation models that consider external environmental factors has increased significantly, indicating that it is necessary to consider external environmental impacts when predicting driver safety tendencies.
