The study on the physiological and ecological response of wild sea-buckthorn in Shanxi Province to different elevation and different slope can provide theoretical basis for the selection of afforestation conditions and the formulation of specific tending measures in the development of sea-buckthorn industry, with elevations ranging from 1100 m to 2100 m.The slope positions were slope up,slope middle and slope down.In this study, the growth, photosynthesis, hydraulics,NSC content of roots and leaves, fruit bearing characteristics and fruit nutrient contents of seabuckthorn were determined according to the sample plots set at different elevations and different slopes. The results are as follows:(1)Sea-buckthorn grows best at an elevation of 1700 m.Whether in June or August, the hydraulic conductivity showed the same trend, which first increased and then decreased with the elevation, reaching a maximum value at about 1700 m altitude.Midday water potential increased first and then decreased, which had the maximum values at 1700 m and 1900 m,respectively.PLC(percentage loss of conductivity)showed a trend of decreasing first and then increasing, with the minimum values at 1700 m and 1500 m altitude respectively.Photosynthesis increased with elevation. The contents of soluble sugar and NSC in the leaves of sea-buckthorn were significantly higher than that in the xylem of roots. The soluble sugar contents in the leaves and roots showed the same trend with the elevation, that is,increased first and then decreased with the elevation, but the change range of soluble sugar content in the roots was greater than that in the leaves. The content of NSC in root xylem and phloem showed the same change pattern. The content of NSC in root xylem and phloem showed no significant difference below 1700 m altitude, and the content of NSC in root xylem and phloem showed a decreasing trend at 1900 m and 2100 m altitude. The water condition and photosynthetic capacity of seabuckthorn in August with good water condition were significantly better than that in June with poor water condition. At 1700 m above sea level, the stalk length and mass of seabuckthorn was the largest, and the content of VC and flavonoids was also the highest at 1700 m above sea level.(2)The growth performance of sea-buckthorn under the slope was the best, the PLC of sea-buckthorn under the slope was the smallest, the branch water conductivity was the largest, the water potential at noon was the highest, the photosynthetic capacity was the strongest, and the soluble sugar and NSC content of sea-buckthorn under the slope were significantly lower than that on the slope. The fruit mass and stalk length of seabuckthorn were the highest in the slope, and the contents of VC,flavonoids, soluble sugar and soluble solids were also the highest in the slope. The results showed that the better water conditions under the slope were more suitable for the growth of seabuckthorn and beneficial to the accumulation of nutrients in the fruit of seabuckthorn.(3)There were significant differences in the fruit density, stalk length,VC and soluble solids content of seabuckthorn in different regions, among which the fruit of ancient seabuckthorn had the highest fruit density and soluble solids content, while the fruit of qin-source seabuckthorn had the highest VC content. At the same time,it was found that the mass of the fruit was the largest but the fruit density was the smallest, and the content of flavonoids and VC in the fruit was positively correlated, while the content of soluble sugar was negatively correlated.
