The studies on reducing fertilizer, optimizing fertilizer and slow-release fertilizer whether the high yield and quality of tomato could be guaranteed and the loss of nitrate nitrogen could be reduced, provide theories to use fertilizer correctly and provide for reference in relevant scientific study and production practice. In this study, the Zhangjiakou area in the northwest of Hebei province was taken as the research area, and the field plot experiment was carried out with the facility tomato as the main research material.Six treatments were set up in the experiment:no nitrogen application, farmer nitrogen application, optimizing nitrogen application,slow-release nitrogen fertilizer A:quick available nitrogen fertilizer=7:3,slow-release nitrogen fertilizer B:quick available nitrogen fertilizer=7:3,optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material. Each treatment was repeated for 3 times by using randomized-block design. The results of the study indicated that:(1)Compared with the farmer nitrogen application, the optimizing nitrogen application treatment could significantly increase the plant height and stem diameter of tomatoes.Among them, the optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material treatment could significantly increase the plant height, stem diameter and yield of tomatoes.(2)Compared with the farmer nitrogen application, the optimizing nitrogen application could significantly increase the yield of tomatoes, and among them, the yield of the optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material treatment was the highest(96535 kg·hm-2),which increased by 23.23%compared with the no nitrogen treatment.(3)Compared with the farmer’s nitrogen rate, the optimizing nitrogen application could significantly improve the sugar-acid ratio of tomatoes and improved the quality and flavor of tomatoes. The tomatoes(slow-release nitrogen fertilizer B:quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer=7:3)and(optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material)had better quality.(4)Compared with the farmer nitrogen application and the optimizing nitrogen application treatment, the slow-release fertilizer treatment could ensure the stable release of nitrate nitrogen in soil, maintain the stable p H value and EC value of soil, provide stable growing environment for tomatoes, and ensure the effective absorption of nutrients.Among them, the optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material treatment can effectively reduce nitrate nitrogen loss, improve the partial productivity of nitrogen fertilizer and agricultural efficiency of tomatoes.Analyzing of the effects of different fertilization modes on the yield, quality and soil properties of tomatoes in this study,it could be concluded that the optimized nitrogen application could improve the character of tomatoes, increase the yield of tomatoes, and reduce the nitrate nitrogen leaching of soil, among which the optimizing nitrogen application fixed modified polymer slow-release material is the best.
