| Most researches on the eating habits of primates are based on the content of their diets and foraging time. However, there are certain limitations in judging the eating habits only by the difference in food intake.Primates have plasticity for the intake of different types of food: although leaf-eating primates(folivorous)mainly consume leaf foods, they also consume more fruit foods;some fruit-eating primates(frugivorous)A certain amount of leaf food is also consumed;insectivorous primates(insectivorous)feed on large amounts of insects and fruits. For nutrition, different foods are the carriers of different nutrients. This study aims to explore the nutritional intake characteristics of leaf-eating primates,fruit-eating primates, and insectivorous primates from the perspective of nutrition. And the difference. We adopted the line-focus animal sampling method and the full-event recording method to feed 24 non-human primates with 3 food habits in Changlong Wild Animal Park from July 10,2019 to December 31,2020.Behaviour tracking observation, nutrient analysis of the food fed to primates under cage conditions(available protein, neutral detergent fiber, fat, and ash),and the dry matter quality of the primate’s single-day intake,Nutrition and energy are quantified.During the study period, the feeding behavior of each primate was recorded for 4-12 days.A total of 169 days of feeding data were recorded, with an average of 8 hours of observation every day.The results found that a high proportion of leaf food intake makes the nutrient intake of leaf-eating primates have the characteristics of high protein, high carbohydrate, and low fat intake;a high proportion of fruit food intake makes the nutrient of fruit-eating primates Intake has the characteristics of low protein, high carbohydrate, and low fat intake.Insectivorous primates can obtain enough protein, carbohydrates and fat from fruit and insect meat foods, and have a larger nutritional choice.Through nutritional analysis,we draw the following conclusions: 1.Different feeding habits of primates have their own unique nutritional intake characteristics under cage conditions.2.Primates in cages are restricted by the nutritional components of the food they are fed,and show different nutritional intake trends. |
