| Typically,we refer to diseases that occur on the skin and skin appendages collectively as dermatological diseases.Among the common clinical diseases of domestic animals, skin diseases are among the most common.Skin diseases in dogs can not only seriously affect the appearance of the affected dog,but more importantly can affect the normal training and work of the dog.The causes of skin diseases are complex and are usually caused by fungal, bacterial or ectoparasitic infections, but can also be caused by endogenous factors such as malnutrition, allergies or genetics. As socio-economic development has led to an increasing number of domestic dogs being kept in close contact with humans[1],the prevention and treatment of skin diseases in dogs is gradually gaining attention.Skin diseases in dogs tend to recur after cure, especially in the spring and summer months.Mites, seborrhoeic dermatitis and allergic skin diseases all have a clear breed-specific tendency. The incidence of skin diseases varies between dogs of different ages, suggesting that their occurrence is also age-related.A one-year clinical survey and questionnaire survey were conducted in outpatient clinics of several animal hospitals in Qingdao in 2020.Combined with epidemiology,a retrospective study was used to statistically analyse the etiology, epidemiological characteristics and incidence patterns of common canine skin diseases in Qingdao, and to analyse factors such as age, sex, breed and season of canine diseases, and the following results were obtained:Of the 1,464 clinical consultations collected, skin diseases accounted for 27.94%,with a total of 409 canine skin diseases.Of these, bacterial dermatosis was the most prevalent dermatosis at 28.50%;fungal dermatosis ranked second at 18.36%of the total;canine mange was third at 14.49%;canine crepitant mite disease, canine ear tick mite disease, flea(lice, ticks)infection, allergic dermatosis, and endocrine dermatosis were 6.28%,9.18%,4.83%,9.66%,and8.70%,respectively.4.83%,9.66%and 8.70%respectively.In terms of age,the incidence of skin diseases in puppies(under 1 year old)accounted for54.79%of the total and was the most common group for canine skin diseases, with a lower incidence in adult dogs(1-7 years old)and older dogs(over 7 years old).In terms of season, fungal skin diseases are not affected by the seasons, with infections occurring throughout the year but peaking in the summer.Canine pyoderma, mange mite infections and ectoparasite infections are directly related to the season, with the incidence of these skin diseases often peaking in late spring and throughout the summer. In terms of breeds, the breeds with the highest incidence of bacterial canine skin diseases were Teddy 21.70%,Bichon 16.37%,Labrador 18.23%,and Chinese Field Spaniel 13.60%;the breeds with the highest incidence of fungal canine skin diseases were Golden Retriever,Swedish Dachshund,Teddy,Pomeranian, and Bichon, accounting for 44.27%,35.94%,26.37%,The three dogs with the highest incidence of canine crepuscular mite were the Japanese Shiba Inu36.59%,the Sheltie 29.37%and the Akita 23.67%;the dogs with a higher incidence of mange mite were the Pomeranian 17.34%,the Border Collie 15.24%,the Poodle 13.53%,the Japanese Shiba Inu 12.37%and the Sheltie 12.35%;the Poodle The highest incidence of canine ear itch mites was found in these three breeds;the high incidence of flea(lice, ticks)infection was found in Border Collies,Shelties,Chinese Field Dogs and German Shepherds, with 48.67%,46.39%,37.89%and 36.37%respectively;Chinese Field Dogs had the highest incidence of allergic The highest prevalence of skin diseases was 30.46%,while endocrine skin diseases were more prevalent in Labradors and Goldens, with 27.33%and 26.47%respectively.In summary, bacterial skin diseases, fungal skin diseases and canine mange mites are the three main canine skin diseases in Qingdao;in terms of age, puppies have the highest incidence of skin diseases;in terms of season, spring and summer are the high incidence of skin diseases;in terms of breed,long-haired dogs and medium and large dogs have a higher incidence. |
