Objective: The aim of this study was to understand the incidence of unplanned readmissions and its influencing factors within 30 days after discharging from open cardiac surgery. Methods: The research is a retrospective analysis. The clinical data of 1169 patients with heart disease who underwent open cardiac surgery in Affiliated Hospital of Guilin Medical College between January 1,2013 and February 28,2018 was collected. The aim was to be analyzed the incidence of unplanned readmission within 30 days after discharging from open cardiac surgery, and the risk factors for unplanned readmission. Results: 44 of the 1169 patients with open cardiac surgery had unplanned readmission within 30 days after discharging(the incidence rate was 3.76%).They are 24 patients of male and 20 patients of female in the 44 patients who had unplanned readmission. The most common causes of unplanned readmission are heart dysfunction, postoperative infection and arrhythmia.Statistical analysis used SPSS 20 software. The results indicate that the important factors affecting unplanned readmission within 30 days after discharging from open cardiac surgery, that is the congenital heart disease patient’s Pulmonary artery contraction pressure and atrial fibrillation, preoperative Classification of NYHA heart function(NYHA),postoperative hospital stay times, postoperative intensive care times, diabetic and the number of red blood cells used after surgery. The factors unrelated to unplanned readmissions included patient’s age, patient’s gender, patient’s Body Mass Index(BMI),operative time,Cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)times,Ejection fraction(EF)and number of fresh frozen plasma after surgery. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the important factors affecting unplanned readmissions within 30 days after discharging from open cardiac surgery are the congenital heart disease patient’s Pulmonary artery contraction pressure and atrial fibrillation, preoperative Classification of NYHA heart function(NYHA),postoperative hospital stay times, postoperative intensive care times, diabetic and the number of red blood cells used after surgery. If we want to reduce the incidence rate of unplanned readmission within 30 days after cardiac surgery that we should do something, such as actively improve cardiac function, reduce intraoperative bleeding, reduce postoperative complications, and shorten postoperative intensive care times and postoperative hospital stay times, and measure to control blood glucose.
