Objective: To investigate the causes and influencing factors for readmission to hospital≤30 days after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods: A total of 454 patients who underwent radical gastrectomy operations in the hospital from January 2018 to December 2019 was collected for retrospectively analyzing.Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors for readmission. Results: The median age of 454 patients underwent radical gastrectomy was 64,including 309 males(68.1%)and 145 females(31.9%).Among them,20 patients(4.4%)were readmitted within 30 days after their original discharge. The median time for readmission was 13.5 days. The main causes for readmission were gastrointestinal symptoms and nutritional disorders(65%).Univariate analysis identified NRS2002 scores(p=0.007),American Society of Anesthesiologists scores(p=0.012),preexisting diabetes(p=0.001),preexisting cardiopathy(p=0.002),combined mult-organ resection(p=0.009),intraoperative blood loss(p<0.001),early oral feeding(p=0.004),post-operative complications scores(p<0.001)as influencing factors for readmission.Multivariate analysis revealed that preexisting diabetes(p=0.026),post-operative complications(p=0.047)are independent risk factors for readmission.Early oral feeding(p=0.007)was the protective factor for readmission. Conclusion: The occurrence of postoperative complications and preexisting diabetes are the independent risk factor for readmission.Early oral feeding was the protective factor for readmission.Positive and effective control of blood glucose, prevention of complications during hospitalization and after discharge, early oral feeding can reduce the rate of unplanned readmission.
