| Objective: To investigate the correlation between serum biochemical parameters, abdominal fat distribution and bone mineral density(BMD)in healthy persons of different gender. Methods: BMD and abdominal fat were measured using quantitative computed tomography(QCT)in 1738 participants, including 1006 male(58%)and 732 female(42%).Participants were divided into male and female groups, and the change trend of BMD with age in different genders was analyzed. The serum biochemical parameters, abdominal fat distribution were compared between normal and abnormal BMD groups in different genders.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the risk factors of BMD in different genders. Results: The abnormal BMD were found in 37% of males and 41% of females, respectively. The decreasing trend of BMD in young men was more significant than that in young women, but it was more pronounced in women after 50 years. There was a correlation between abdominal fat and lipids.Age(OR=1.108,P<0.01),total cholesterol(OR= 1.374,P = 0.001)and high density lipoprotein(OR=1.239,P<0.01)were the risk factors of BMD in men and age(OR=1.239,P<0.01),visceral adipose tissue(OR=1.004,P<0.05)were the risk factors of BMD in women. Conclusion: Various factors have different effects on BMD.Age,total cholesterol, and high density lipoprotein are risk factors in men,and age, visceral adipose tissue are the risk factors in women. There is a correlation between abdominal fat and lipids, which may lead to different risk factors affecting BMD in men and women. |
