ObjectiveThis study aims to analyze the prevalence and risk factors of metabolic syndrome(MS)and evaluate the dietary quality of adults in Tianjin using diet balance index(DBI).Besides, the relationship between the score of the dietary balance index and MS were analyzed in order to provide reasonable dietary guidance for those with MS and a scientific basis for controlling MS.In this study,All the data were from Adult Nutrition and Chronic Disease Surveillance project..MethodsIn this study, subjects were all from the Chinese adult chronic disease and nutrition monitoring population in Tianjin the multi-stage cluster random sampling method was used to select 7 districts in Tianjin(Hexi,Nankai,Hongqiao,Jinnan,Wuqing,Baodi and Jixian)as monitoring points,6 streets/towns were selected from each monitoring point, and 45 households were randomly selected from the selected streets/towns.And then a further 20 households were randomly selected for the dietary survey.Finally,4,333 people were enrolled, and 1,625 people were surveyed for dietary survey. The survey includes questionnaire, physical examination, laboratory test and dietary survey. The revised dietary balance index was used to evaluate the dietary quality.Using SPSS20.0 to analyze the general situation and the influencing factors survey of MS.The general conditions were compared byχ~2test and Mann-Whitney U test, and unconditional logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between risk factors of MS and dietary balance index.Results1.The Mayor index was 7.70,and the age distribution quality of the surveyed population was well. The prevalence of MS was 32.1%.Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),blood glucose(GLU),total cholesterol(TC)),Triacylglycerol(TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),body weight, body mass index(BMI)and waist circumference(WC)of subjects with MS were higher than those without MS.Logistic regression analysis showed that women, urban population and high education level were protective factors of MS.Old people,second-hand smoke exposure and sitting time of more than 4 hours were risk factors of MS.2.The dietary survey showed that the median intake index of vegetables and fruits was-7,milk and soybeans was-9,animal food was-3,and food type was-6,showing insufficient intake. The median score of cereal food intake index was 3,pure energy food was 2,and the median of condiment was 4,indicating excessive intake. The quality status was in the range of moderate intake imbalance, low excessive intake and moderate insufficient intake. The index scores were 41,13and 28.3.Logistic regression analysis showed that the high animal food score was a protective factor for MS,high waist circumference and high blood pressure.High scores of vegetables and fruits, milk and soybeans, and the food types were protective factors for high blood pressure with OR values less than 1.High scores of pure energy food and flavoring food were risk factors for waist circumference and high scores of cereals intake and pure energy food were risk factors for high blood pressure with OR values greater than 1.After adjusting for confounding factors, excessive dietary intake was a risk factor for MS and high waist circumference.Insufficient dietary intake was a risk factor for MS and high blood pressure.Dietary imbalance was a risk factor for MS,high waist circumference, high blood pressure and high triglycerides with OR values greater than 1ConclusionThe MS prevalence of adults in Tianjin was 32.1%.Men,rural areas, age, low education level,second-hand smoke and static time more than 4h were risk factors for MS.Paying more attention to these was siginificant to prevent and control MS.Unbalanced dietary intake of adults in Tianjin was observed, including excessive intake of pure energy food, condiments, vegetables and fruits, milk and soybeans, animal food insufficient intake.Unbalanced dietary intake was a risk factor for MS Therefore, patients with MS should have a reasonable diet to ensure a balanced dietary intake.
