Objective This study investigated the general conditions, anxiety and depression of acne patients and non-acne normal people, the quality of life of acne patients, and comparison of anxiety and depression in 58 acne patients before and after treatment. The purpose is to understand the general characteristics and quality of life of acne patients, and objectively evaluate their mental health, which can provide better psychological intervention for the clinical treatment of acne vulgaris. Methods Select 220 acne patients from the Department of Dermatology,Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Guangdong Province and Department of Dermatology,The First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from April 2019 to March2020 as the test group.220 non-acne social groups such as unit employees and community members served as the control group. The selected two groups of research objects will be surveyed by the trained investigators according to the corresponding research plan. The statistical results were analyzed by Stata statistical software. All statistical tests were carried out by two-sided tests, and P≤0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Results There was no significant difference in gender and age distribution between the test group and the control group.Compared with the control group, the test group had a higher proportion of people who had changed their residences, had a higher proportion of systemic diseases, had more facial cleansing times a day,and had a higher proportion of using facial cleanser(P<0.05).In terms of eating habits, there was no statistical difference in the proportions of eating fat, sweet, greasy, spicy and stimulating between the two groups(P>0.05);The test group fell asleep later, had less daily sleep time, and had worse sleep quality than the control group(P<0.05).The logistic regression analysis of the related influencing factors of acne and non-acne of 440 survey subjects showed that the change of residence, concomitant system diseases, and poor sleep quality were related to the occurrence of acne, while the longer daily sleep time and married status could reduce the probability of developing acne at a certain level(all P<0.05).The severity of acne was negatively related to age, positively related to weight, positively related to Qol-Acne score, and positively related to overall acne grading(GAGS)(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in anxiety score(SAS)and anxiety classification, depression score(SDS)and depression classification between the test group and the control group(P>0.05).The logistic regression analysis of the related factors of anxiety and depression in 440 survey subjects showed that the factors of anxiety include male gender, history of drug allergy, poor sleep quality and depression, while changing residence and daily sleep time≥ 7 hours can relieve anxiety emotions.Factors for depression include accompanying systemic diseases, poor sleep quality, and anxiety, while being married can alleviate depression(all P<0.05).The anxiety and depression of acne patients are related to some aspects of the patient’s quality of life."The influence of acne on daily social interaction and heterosexual relationships" will aggravate the anxiety of acne patients."Acne causes irritability, depression, and embarrassment","The adverse effect of acne on self-confidence",and "The effect of acne on appearance" will aggravate the depression of acne patients(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the CADI score and Qol-acne score of acne patients with different genders(all P>0.05).There were differences in acne grading of 58 acne patients after treatment, that the acne grading decreased(P<0.05).Fifty-eifht acne patients had no significant changes in anxiety after treatment(P>0.05),but depression improved after treatment(P<0.05).The median scores of Cardiff Acne Index(CADI)and Qol-Acne Questionnaire(Qol-Acne)of 58 acne patients were lower than before after treatment(both P<0.05).Conclusion Acne patients have shorter daily sleep time and poorer sleep quality than non-acne people, while prolonging the daily sleep time can relieve acne symptoms.Poor sleep quality is also related to the occurrence of anxiety and depression.Although there is no clear indicator that acne patients have more anxiety and depression than non-acne people, there is a certain correlation between anxiety and depression in acne patients and the quality of life.Effective treatment of acne can improve the quality of life of patients and relieve anxiety and depression.
