| Objective:Observe Thermal Therapy’s clinical effects in patients with chronic heart failure,to provide a preliminary assessment of its effectiveness. Methods:We analyzed the clinical data of 8 patients(trial group)from TedaICH’s clinical study"Clinical Effects of Thermal Therapy in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure" launched in October 2019,collected patients" data of the plasma samples,Echocardiograms,Chest radiographs and other physical measurements from both groups before and after the treatment, compared the changes of various clinical indicators with another 8 patients(control group)who were admitted to the hospital at the same time and were treated with standardized medications only,to make a preliminary evaluation of the effect of Thermal Therapy. Results:The data showed that various clinical parameters improved in both groups after four weeks of Thermal Therapy. However,it’s worth mentioning that the levels of the clinical indicators in the experimental group were changed significantly more than those in the control group.Especially the following parameters:BNP(pg/ml):1543.5(691.8,3637.0)vs.617.0(397.5,1192.3),with a statistically significant difference of P=0.042;Diastolic BP(mmHg)60.0(57.5,70.8)vs.51.5(50.3,61.0),with a statistically significant difference of P=0.046;6-minute walking distance(m):333.5(157.5,394.5)vs.436.5(377.5,474.8),with a statistically significant difference of P=0.046;What’s more, the NYHA Functional Class and the QOL scores in all components of SF-36 were significantly improved after four weeks of Thermal therapy, with a statistically significant difference of P<0.001.All patients participating in the trial were well tolerated and no adverse effects were seen. Conclusion:Under supervised conditions, patients with chronic heart failure were well tolerated and initially assessed to be effective and safe with Thermal therapy. Therefore, larger samples and longer clinical-trial time are needed to further investigate the efficacy, safety, and potential clinical value of Thermal therapy. |
