| Background and objective: Chronic rhinosinusitis is one of the common diseases in otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery. The incidence rate and recurrence rate of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps are high. The main treatment methods are CRS and combined with nasal medication. However, there are still some cases of poor symptoms and even recurrence after operation in the patients with CRSwNP.Therefore, precise treatment and individualized treatment are very necessary. It has been reported that periostin is involved in the structural remodeling of upper and lower respiratory tract, such as tissue injury and fibrosis. It is a biological marker of eosinophilic inflammation of respiratory tract. The purpose of this study was to investigate the significance of periostin expression in the occurrence, development and prognosis of CRSwNP.Methods: The expression of serum periostin in crswnp and control group was detected by ELISA before operation, and the correlation between the proportion of eosinophils and serum periostin in polyp group before operation was compared; The prognosis and recurrence of polyp group were followed up after operation, and the patients were evaluated by Lund Kennedy score of nasal endoscope and Lund Mackay score of multi-slice CT of nasal sinus The relationship between symptom score and preoperative serum periostin and the relationship between recurrence and preoperative serum periostin expression were studied. Results: We found that the expression of serum periostin in the polyp group and the control group was statistically significant, the expression of periostin in the polyp group was higher than that in the control group; The proportion of blood eosinophils in the polyp group was positively correlated with the concentration of serum periostin; The concentration of serum periosteal protein before operation was correlated with cough, decreased smell and post nasal drip within 1 year after operation within one year after operation, the serum protein concentration of recurrence group was significantly higher than that of non recurrence group. Conclusion: Serum periostin can be used as one of the biological markers to monitor the disease activity of CRSwNP,and it is closely related to the prognosis of CRSwNP patients. |
