Objective: To understand the childhood trauma and mental health of detainees, compare the mental health, childhood trauma, psychological resilience, family environment and personality characteristics between detainees and the general population, analyze the influencing factors of mental health of detainees, and deeply understand the relationship between childhood trauma and mental health of detainees. Methods: The research group randomly selected 500 detainees from10 male and 10 female wards in a detention center in Jinan. The control group randomly selected 500 ordinary people in Jinan. The basic information questionnaire of detainees, general population, symptom checklist 90(SCL-90),childhood abuse questionnaire(CTQ-SF),psychological resilience scale(CD-RISC),family environment scale(FES-CV)and Eysenck personality questionnaire(EPQ)were used to investigate the detainees and general population.Results:1.In this survey,441 valid questionnaires were collected from detainees and 437 from the general population, and the effective rates were 88.2% and 87.4%,respectively.The incidence of mental disorder in detainees was 55.1%,which was significantly higher than that of the general population(16.7%).Comparing the mental health status of detainees with that of the general population,it was found that the scores of each factor and the total average score in SCL-90 of detainees were significantly higher than those of the general population(all P<0.05).2.The incidence of childhood trauma of detainees was 47.8%,which was significantly higher than that of ordinary people(35.2%).Comparing the incidence of childhood trauma between detainees and the general population by chi square test,it was found that the incidence of various types of childhood trauma experience of detainees was significantly higher than that of the general population with this type of childhood trauma experience, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).3.Through chi square test,we compared the mental disorder incidence of detainees with childhood trauma experience, and found that the mental disorder incidence of detainees with various types of childhood trauma experience was significantly higher than that of detainees without such types of childhood trauma experience, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).4.Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between childhood trauma experience and mental health of detainees. It was found that there were significant positive correlations between the five types of childhood trauma of detainees and the scores of nine factors in SCL-90 of mental health and their total average scores(all P<0.05),that is,the more serious the childhood trauma of detainees, the worse their mental health.5.Through multivariate Logistic regression analysis, the influence of childhood trauma on mental health of detainees was analyzed. After controlling other influencing factors on mental health of detainees,it was found that emotional neglect, physical neglect and emotional abuse were independent risk factors of mental health of detainees(OR=2.73,4.02,4.24,all P<0.05).Conclusion: Childhood trauma of detainees has an important impact on the occurrence and severity of mental health problems, and emotional neglect, physical neglect and emotional abuse experience are independent risk factors of mental health.
