The Clinical Study Of Auricular Point Pressing Therapy On Patients With Sleep Disturbances After Endoscopic Sinus Surgery For Chronic Rhinosinusitis

ObjectiveThe aim of this study is observing the effect of auricular acupoint pressing on sleep disturbance after endoscopic sinus surgery in patients with chronic sinusitis,exploring the effect of auricular point sticking on rehabilitation and determining its effectiveness and safety,thus providing clinical research basis for enriching the contents of rehabilitation after endoscopic sinus surgery for rapid and chronic sinusitis and promoting the integration of traditional Chinese and western medicine.MethodsA single center randomized single blind parallel controlled trial was used to prospective clinical study on the efficacy of auricular acupoint sticking.68 patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the experimental group and the observation group.Patients in the observation group received perioperative comprehensive treatment after endoscopic sinus surgery,while the patients in the experimental group received auricular acupoint sticking therapy as well as perioperative comprehensive treatment after endoscopic sinus surgery.The treatment process was divided into three stages:case screening stage,treatment inclusion stage and follow-up stage.Herein,the case screening stage was mainly designed for mastering the basic physical conditions and clinical symptoms of patients according to the medical record data and demographic information collected from the case system,so as to provide the basis for the formulation and adjustment of treatment plan.Then,in the treatment inclusion stage,patients in the observation and the experimental group were treated with different treatment methods.Finally,during the follow-up period,patients’ sleep status and nasal symptoms were surveyed for nearly 2 weeks according to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and postoperative symptom VAS scale.ResultsReferenced by PSQI scale and postoperative pain VAS scale as evaluation criteria,patients in the observation and experimental group were respectively treated with perioperative comprehensive treatment and perioperative comprehensive treatment-auricular acupoint sticking therapy.The results were showed that:with the implementation of the rehabilitation treatment,the PSQI and VAS scores of patients in both groups decreased,and the experimental group is of higher decrease degree.Specifically,for the observation group,after 14 days of perioperative combined treatment,the cure rate of sleep disorders was 51.5%,the effective rate was 21.2%,and the ineffective rate was 27.3%.Meanwhile,for the experimental group,after 14 days of perioperative comprehensive treatment-auricular acupoint pressing treatment,the cure rate of sleep disorder was 88.6%,the effective rate was 8.6%,and the inefficiency was 2.8%.For intra-group comparison of PSQI score,VAS score after treatment and inter-group comparison of total PSQI score,VAS score after treatment,total PSQI score,VAS score before and after treatment,the results of normality test showed that score data of the two groups did not conform to normal distribution.Therefore,Wilcoxon signed rank test of paired samples was adopted,and the results showed that scores of each test item in the two groups,except hypnotic drugs and sleep disorders in the observation group,were P<0.05,and the difference was statistically significant.This indicates that the overall sleep condition,sleep quality,sleep time,sleep time,sleep efficiency and daytime function of patients in both groups on the 14th day after treatment were improved compared with those on the day after surgery.ConclusionEar acupoint sticking therapy can effectively improve the overall sleep status of patients with chronic sinusitis after endoscopic sinus surgery,and has significant improvement effect on sleep quality,sleep time prolongation,sleep efficiency,sleep disorders and daytime function,but has no significant improvement effect on hypnotic drugs.
