Objective:To evaluate therapeutic effect of subthreshold micropulse laser(SML,577 nm)for central serous chorioretinopathy(CSC).Methods:This prospective self-control study included 43 patients(46 eyes),strictly according to the inclusion criteria,treated with SML for CSC in North Sichuan Medical College.Assessment included best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),horizontal metamorphopsia(HM),vertical metamorphopsia(VM),central retinal thickness(CRT),subfoveal choroidal thickness(SFCT),central macular volume(CMV),resolution of subretinal fluid thickness(SRFT),mean deviation(MD)measured by automated static perimetry(ASP),contrast sensitivity(CS),and response density(P1-RD)and latency(P1-L)of retinal wave,P1,measured by mf-ERG in 5 rings.Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS ver.22.0.Parameters were analyzed using the the pair t-test and the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test.Statistical signifificance was considered when P-value was 0.05.Results:The mean age of patients in our study were 44.48±1.32 years(38 males,3 females).BCVA(logMAR)at baseline was 0.26±0.17,which was decreased to 0.24±0.05 at 1 week(P<0.05).HM at baseline was(0.58±0.64),which was decreased to(0.27±0.54)at 4 weeks(P<0.05).VM at baseline was(0.43±0.57),which was decreased to(0.32±0.61)at 4 weeks(P<0.05).CMT at baseline was(459.23±177.94)μm,which was decreased to(299.00±128.07)μm at 1 week(P<0.05).SRFT at baseline was(298.12±159.89),which was decreased to(184.08±117.17)μm at 1 week(P<0.05).SFCT at baseline was(368.42±72.85)μm,which was decreased to(351.12±58.08)μm at 1 week(P<0.05).CMV at baseline was(9.84±1.30)mm3,which was decreased to(9.17±0.81)mm3 at 1 week(P<0.05).MD at baseline was(4.98±2.56)dB,which was decreased to(3.52±1.49)dB at 4 weeks(P<0.05).CS-3cpd was(1.27±0.27)c/d at baseline,which was improve to(1.44±0.16)c/d at 1 week(P<0.05).CS-6cpd at baseline was(1.51±0.20)c/d,which was improve to(1.78±0.76)c/d at 4 weeks(P<0.05).CS-12cpd at baseline was(1.17±0.22)c/d,which was decreased to(1.59±0.23)c/d at 4 weeks(P<0.05).CS-18cpd was(0.75±0.30)c/d at baseline,which was improve to(0.93±0.35)c/d at 1 week(P<0.05).R1-P1-RD,R1-P1-L,R2-P1-RD and R2-P1-L at 1week,2 weeks,3 weeks all increased as compared to baseline,and the differences has statistically significant;P1-RD and P1-L in ring 3 and ring 4 and ring 5 at 1week,2 weeks,3 weeks all increased as compared to baseline,but the differences has no statistically significant.Rl-P1-RD at baseline was(57.38±42.61)nV/deg2,which was decreased to(71.62±34.68)nV/deg2 at 4 weeks(P<0.05).R1-P1-L at baseline was(44.29±6.13)ms,which was improve to(47.30±4.35)ms at 1 week(P<0.05).R2-P1-RD at baseline was(35.13±21.01)nV/deg2,which was decreased to(37.92±29.31)nV/deg2 at 4 weeks(P<0.05).R2-P1-L at baseline was(44.85±3.60)ms,which was improve to(47.33±3.19)ms at 1 week(P<0.05).Conclusions:SMPL(577nm)treatment for CSC can efficiently reduce BCVA(logMAR)、CMT、SRF、SFCT、CMV、HM、VM,and significantly improve CS-3pd、6pd、12pd、P1-RD and P1-L in ring 1and ring 2.This study shows that CSC patients’ symptoms would alleviate with 577nm.Therefore,it may be a preferable treatment modality for CSC patients.
