ObjectiveTo analyse the clinical features of adult EB virus infection by detecting EBvirus-associated antibodies,EB DNA,blood routine, blood biochemistry, and clinical symptoms in adult EB virus-infected patients.MethodWe collected 67 adult EB virus infections’clinical data and laboratory test results in Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital and divided the patients into young and middle-aged groups(18-59 years old)19 cases and elderly patients(60 years old)48 cases, and 49 healthy people as controls,to study the clinical characteristics of adult Epstein-Barr virus infection and different age groups.ResultIn these 67 adult patients:Fever was the most common symptom:37cases(55.2%),followed by lymphadenopathy:13 cases(19.4%),splenomegaly(13.4%),and liver enlargement 8 cases(11.9%),haryngeal congestion6 cases(9.0%),and rash 5 cases(7.5%).The symptoms of fever(84.2%),pharyngeal congestion(26.3%), rash(21.1%),liver enlargement(31.6%)in young and middle-aged patients are more obvious than the elderly group(χ~2values??are 9.012,7.057,4.612,7.295,P<0.05),young and middle-aged group:malignant tumor disease:2 cases(10.5%);elderly group:hematopoietic lymphohistiocytosis:2 cases(4.1%),malignant tumor disease:17 cases(34.7%),There was a statistical difference in the incidence of malignant tumors between the two groups(χ~2=4.15,P=0.042).The total number of T lymphocytes,CD4+T lymphocytes, and B lymphocytes in the elderly group were lower than those in the healthy control group(t was4.525,5.960,2.999,P All<0.05),while the number of lymphocyte subsets in the young and middle-aged group was not significantly different from that in the healthy controls(P>0.05).There were no statistical differences in liver function indexes and the expression levels of EB virus-related antibodies between two age groups(P>0.05).The Lymphocyte subsets between Primary Infection group and Post Infection have no difference(P>0.05).ConclusionAdult patients with EB virus infection have various clinical manifestations. The symptoms of acute infection in young and middle-aged patients are more obvious than the elderly patients. The cellular immunity and humoral immunity of elderly patients are reduced, and the prevalence of EB virus-related tumors is high. The clinical manifestations of EB virus infection are atypical and early detection of EB virus-related antibodies and EB virus DNA do help to early diagnosis and reatment.
