Objective:Research the relationship between the number of negative lymph nodes detected by pathology and prognosis of patients with stage Ⅲ colon carcinoma after radical surgery, and provide a new basis for predicting the prognosis of patients with stage Ⅲ colon carcinoma. Methods:This study included 272 patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer who suffered radical surgery at the General Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from October 2010 to October 2015.collecting the patients’ general clinical, pathological and follow-up data, and the numbers negative lymph nodes were grouped by ROC curve,Kaplan-Meier method and COX regression method were used to analyze the relationship between the number of negative lymph nodes and the overall survival rate of patients. Results:Overall survival of patients with lymph node-negative number of stage Ⅲ colon cancer was significantly associated,.Patients with negative lymph nodes> 11(n=133)and patients with negative lymph nodes ≤11(n=139)have a significantly longer average overall survival time(89.7 months vs 70.9 months),and significantly better3-year overall survival rate(75.8%% vs 68.0%)and 5-year overall survival rate(68.8% vs 50.4%)(P=0.001).In multivariate survival analysis, the number of negative lymph nodes is still an independent prognostic factor(P = 0.000).In the subgroup analysis, the number of NLNs has significant predictive value in Ⅲ colon cancer patients with tumor N stage N1(P = 0.000),but has no significant predictive value in Ⅲ colon cancer patients with tumor N stage N2.Conclusion:Lymph node negative impact a number of independent elements of the prognosis of patients with colon cancer stage Ⅲ or N1,is not affected by other clinicopathological features, but not N2 independent predictors of the prognosis of patients with stage Ⅲ colon.
