Objective:The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)in retinal vein occlusion(RVO)between Ozurdex combined with retinal laser photocoagulation and retinal laser photocoagulation alone. Methods:A total of 45 cases and 45 eyes were included in this retrospective case-control study.24 cases and 24 eyes of RVO in the combined group were treated with intravitreal injection of Ozurdex once and retinal laser photocoagulation once a month.21 cases and 21 eyes in the simple group were treated with peripheral retinal laser photocoagulation once a month alone.Compared the differences before and after treatment as well as the follow-up time point between the two groups of best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central retinal thickness(CRT),foveal avascular zone(FAZ)during the follow-up 3 months.According to the 6*6mm OCTA images, they were divided into two subgroups: one group with and without macular collateral vessels formation and the other group with and without macular large non-perfusion area(NPA).We investigated the influence of two treatment methods on the changes of BCVA,CRT and FAZ area between different subgroups. Results:BCVA and CRT were significantly improved at each follow-up time point in the combined group and the simple group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups at the first two months of follow-up(P>0.05),and CRT was only lower in combined group than in simple group at the 3 months after treatments(P=0.014).The FAZ areas in combined group and simple group was smaller than baseline at each follow-up time point(P<0.05).At the 3rd month after treatment, the FAZ area of the combined group was smaller than that of the simple group(P=0.014),and there was no significant difference between the two groups at other time points(P>0.05).During the follow-up period, there was no significant difference on the degree of improvement of BCVA,whether the collateral vessels or the large macular NPA were formed, whether the combined treatment or the single treatment. In terms of the degree of reducing CRT,regardless of the formation of collateral vessels, the efficacy of combination therapy was better than that of single treatment(P=0.028,P=0.036).The efficacy of both treatment groups with large macular NPA was better than that without large NPA(P=0.018,0.045).The efficacy of combination therapy in the group with large NPA in the macular area was better than that of single treatment(P=0.001).In terms of the reduction of FAZ area, the outcomes in the combined group which with no formation of collateral vessels was superior to with formation of collateral vessels(P=0.014),and only the group with no collateral vesssels and large NPA in macular area in combinated threatment was superior to the single treatment(P=0.001,P=0.011).Conclusion:Ozurdex combined with retinal laser photocoagulation and retinal laser photocoagulation alone had a significant effect on treatment of RVO.The combination therapy had a better effective to reduce the macular edema than than single treatment.A more profound effect was achieved in the no collateral vessels formation and no lager macular NPA group on the CRT and FAZ reduction after combination treatment.
