| ObjectiveThis research was aimed to explore whether the improvement of subjective symptoms and objective examination in nasal septum deviation(NSD)patients after septoplasty were related to the degree of preoperative anxiety or depression, and further determined the effects of anxiety and depression to the treatment of NSD,in the hope of improving the effects of clinical treatment.MethodThe clinical data of the patients who were hospitalized for the reason of NSD and treated by septoplasty was collected prospectively in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from september 2018 to december 2019.Besides,visual analogue scale(VAS)scores, nasal obstruction symptom evaluation(NOSE)scores,self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)scores,self-rating depression scale(SDS)scores, inspiratory and expiratory total nasal resistance were recorded before operation. And the data above would be recorded again after 6 months. All the data would be used for statistical analysis.ResultThere was no statistical difference of anxiety or depression between different groups in terms of age, gender and courses in the 150 effective patients. And the degree of preoperative anxiety or depression was positively correlated with the nasal obstruction of patients(VAS scores and NOSE scores),but not significantly correlated with inspiratory and expiratory total nasal resistance. In addition, the improvement of subjective symptoms of nasal obstruction in patients with anxiety or depression was worse than that in normal patients, and was decreased with increase of the degree of anxiety or depression. However, there was no significant difference in the reduction of inspiratory and expiratory total nasal resistance 6 months after surgery between groups.ConclusionThe degree of anxiety and depression affected the improvement of nasal obstruction in NSD patients after septoplasty, and the degree of recovery was negatively correlated with the degree of anxiety and depression, which affects the quality of life of in patients. It is necessary to evaluate the anxiety and depression of the patients with nasal septal deviation who are going to undergo septoplasty. |
