Background: Caries is a common oral disease in children. Its harm is great, and it has brought an important impact on children ’s health and growth. The prevention of children’ s dental caries has become the focus of parents and pediatricians. The occurrence and development of deciduous teeth caries is closely related to children ’s eating habits and oral hygiene behavior. Therefore,it is very important to conduct oral health knowledge education and improve the awareness of oral health care of children, parents and teachers to prevent children’ s dental caries. At the same time, studies have shown that the application of fluoride can reduce the incidence of caries in children.Various fluoride caries prevention techniques have been widely used in the world, and have achieved great social and economic benefits. However, most of the studies have been conducted to analyze the separate effects of oral health education measures or fluoride application on preventing caries, and the prevention effects of the two are less. Objective : The effect of oral health education and local fluoride application in preventing deciduous tooth caries in preschool children provides a reference scheme for preventing deciduous tooth caries in preschool children. Methods : Between March 2018 and March 2019,132 children aged 3-5 in one kindergarten were selected as experimental group and 143 children aged 3-5 in another kindergarten as control group. The experimental group received oral health education combined with topical fluoride applications, and the control group received only oral health education.Comparing the caries rate,SECC prevalence, caries and soft scale before and after two groups of intervention measures;and compared the caries rate, oral hygiene behavior and dietary habits after 1 year of intervention.Results:1、After oral health education combined with topical fluoride application, the caries rate,SECC prevalence rate, soft scale detection rate and caries were 68.18%,52.27%,50.765 %and(3.61±5.12)respectively in the test group, and the corresponding indexes in the control group were 80.42%,67.83%,64.34% and(5.01±4.68)respectively,which were lower in the test group than in the control group(P < 0.05).The caries rate,SECC prevalence rate, soft scale detection rate and caries status in the control group were all higher than those before control(P > 0.05).The indexes of the experimental group after control were slightly higher than before control, but there was no statistical difference(P< 0.05).2、 After 1 year after oral health education combined with local fluoride,dt,ds,mt,ms,ft,fs,dmft, dmfs was significantly lower than the comparable control group(P <0.05).3、In the experimental group, the proportion of brushing twice or more per day, brushing again by parents, using fluoridated toothpaste, brushing time of 3min or more per brush, never fasting before going to bed,and rinsing twice or more after meals was all higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The proportion of the experimental group without floss and without oral examination was lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion : Oral health education combined with local fluoride application can significantly reduce the caries rate,SECC prevalence rate, soft scale detection rate, and equal caries in preschool children, and can significantly strengthen preschool children to develop good oral hygiene habits and eating habits, which is an effective plan to prevent preschool children.
