Objective:This study was to describe treatment, function, and health-related quality of life(HRQoL)in patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis(AIS),and to explore the factors affecting HRQoL in patients with AIS.It provides a theoretical basis for developing measures to improve the HRQoL in patients with AIS.Methods: Patients diagnosed with AIS who were enrolled in the Spinal Deformity Clinic of Orthopaedic Department of the First Hospital of China Medical University and Scoliosis Society of Liaoning Province from September 1,2019 to August 31,2020 were selected as the subjects. The self-made patient general information questionnaire and Scoliosis Research Society Scale 22(SRS-22)were used to evaluate the patients’demographic data,disease-related data and HRQoL.SPSS 22.0 software was used to describe the general data of patients and the scores of SRS-22,and univariate and multivariate regression analysis of HRQoL in patients with AIS was performed. Results: 1.In this study,293 valid questionnaires were collected. The mean age of patients was 15.12±0.88 years;the mean BMI was 17.77±1.92;49.15%、17.06%,5.46%,9.90% and 18.43% of patients underwent observation, brace, surgery, exercise and brace assisted exercise therapy, respectively. The average score of SRS-22 was 4.17±0.43,among which the average scores of each dimension were 4.35±0.51 for functional activities,3.67±0.80 for mental health,3.90±0.82 for self-image,4.52±0.41 for pain and4.69±0.73 for satisfaction, respectively, which were all at a low level. The function activity level of 90.10% of patients were slightly or not affected by the disease,and9.90% of patients were moderately or severely affected by the disease.2.The results of univariate analysis of HRQoL in patients with AIS showed that diagnosis time, age,BMI,Cobb Angle, educational background and treatment methods were significantly correlated with HRQoL in patients with AIS(all P < 0.05).3.The results of multivariate analysis of HRQoL in AIS patients showed that the main factors affecting HRQoL in patients with AIS were diagnosis time,Cobb Angle,BMI,treatment methods and educational background(all P < 0.05).Compared with brace therapy, the scores of SRS-22 in patients with AIS treated with exercise therapy were relatively higher, and the scores in mild patients receiving observation treatment were the highest(P 均<0.05).Conclusion: Patients with AIS had above-average function activity level and poor HRQoL,especially mental health and self-image.Early screening could effectively improve HRQoL in patients with AIS.BMI and the severity of scoliosis were risk factors affecting HRQoL.Medical staff should develop exercise therapy in line with Chinese patients with AIS,strengthen the health education of AIS patients and their parents, improve cognition and compliance of patients and their families on rehabilitation exercise, provide effective psychological nursing for different patients and choose appropriate treatment measures to improve the patients’ HRQoL. |
