Objective:To investigate resilience and influencing factors among the primary caregivers of patients with cleft lip,so as to provide basis for improving the resilience of the caregivers. Methods:This is a descriptive study.A survey was conducted among 158 primary caregivers of patients with cleft lip and palate in two domestic tertiary grade A dental hospitals by convenience sampling method.Tools included General Information Questionnaire, the 14-Item Resilience Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale,Herth Hope Index and The Coping Health Inventory for Parents.SPSS 20.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Measurement and enumeration data were described statistically by means of mean and standard deviation, frequency and composition ratio respectively.Pearson correlation analysis was used for correlation test.Single factor and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze factors influencing primary caregivers’s resilience.Results:1.The overall and average score of resilience of primary caregivers was(74.96±13.45)and(5.35±0.96)respectively.The scores of each dimension:personal ability dimension was(52.89±10.09)points,and positive cognition dimension was(22.08±4.19)points.The scores of other psychological variables of main caregivers of patients with cleft lip and palate:the total score of perceived social support was(65.09±11.17)points,the total score of hope was(39.30±4.52)points,and the total score of coping style(frequency of use)was(168.68±23.51)points.2.Univariate analysis results:caregivers’gender, educational background, family location had statistical significance on own resilience.3.Results of correlation analysis:There was a positive correlation between the total score of caregivers’s resilience and other psychological variables(P<0.001).The scores of resilience increased with the increase of the total score and the scores of each dimension of perceiving social support,Herth hope and coping style.4.Multivariate analysis results:caregivers’gender(β=-4.442,P=0.030),educational background(β=6.908,P=0.011),positive attitude towards reality and future(β=2.939,P<0.001),seeking social support, maintaining self-esteem and psychological stability(β=0.262,P=0.036)were the influencing factors of own resilience. After adjustment R~2=0.398,it could explain 39.8%of the variation in resilience. Conclusion:The resilience of primary caregivers of patients with cleft lip and palate was in the medium level, and its influencing factors were caregivers’gender, educational background, hope and coping style, among which hope and coping style are interventionable factors. For caregivers with low level of hope, nursing staff can draw on the existing hope intervention methods to develop an intervention plan suitable for improving the resilience of primary caregivers of patients with cleft lip and palate. At the same time,we should focus on caregivers with low education, low income or not working, and guide them to adopt a variety of positive coping styles,so as to promote the improvement of their resilience.
