Objective The expression of HOXC10 protein in gastric cancer tissues and H.pylori infection in gastric cancer patients were detected to study the correlation between HOXC10 protein expression,Hp infection and clinicopathological features of gastric cancer patients,and to explore the clinical significance of HOXC10 protein expression and Hp infection in gastric cancer patients.Methods Patients admitted to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture Central Hospital from January 2014 to December 2020 who were diagnosed with gastric cancer and underwent gastric cancer surgery for the first time in the department of colorectal and anal Surgery in Enshi Prefecture Central Hospital of Hubei Province were selected as the research subjects.The expression of HOXC10 in adjacent normal tissues and gastric cancer tissues was detected by immunohistochemical(IHC)method,and the infection of Hp in gastric cancer patients was detected by immunohistochemical method.Results(1)The expression of HOXC10 in gastric cancer tissues was significantly different from that in adjacent normal tissues(P <0.05).(2)Hp infection in gastric cancer tissues had no significant differences with age,gender,tumor site,tumor size,differentiation degree of gastric cancer and Borrmann classification(P > 0.05).(3)There were no significant differences between HOXC10 in gastric cancer tissues and age,gender,differentiation degree of gastric cancer,lymph node metastasis,tumor site and Borrmann type(P >0.05).(4)Hp infection was analyzed with various clinicopathological features and correlation of gastric cancer patients,and it was found that Hp infection was related to lymph node metastasis,TNM stage and invasion depth,with statistically significant differences(P <0.05).(5)The correlation between the expression of HOXC10 in gastric cancer tissues and various clinicopathological features of gastric cancer patients was analyzed,and it was found that the expression of HOXC10 was related to lymph node metastasis,tumor size,tumor invasion depth,TNM stage,vascular involvement and nerve involvement,with statistically significant differences(P <0.05).(6)There was a positive correlation between HOXC10 expression and Hp infection in gastric cancer tissues.(7)Univariate analysis showed that lymph node metastasis,maximum tumor diameter,tumor invasion depth,tumor pathological TNM stage,nerve involvement,vascular involvement,HOXC10 protein expression and Hp infection were the related factors affecting the survival and prognosis prediction of gastric cancer patients.Multivariate analysis using Cox proportional risk model showed that the depth of tumor invasion,maximum tumor diameter,nerve involvement,TNM staging,HOXC10 expression and Hp infection were independent factors affecting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.Conclusions(1)There were statistical differences in the expression of HOXC10 protein and clinicopathological characteristics between positive and negative patients with Hp infection(P <0.05).The expression of HOXC10 protein and positive Hp in gastric cancer tissues were higher than negative,and were closely related to the depth of tumor invasion and TNM stage of patients.These results suggest that HOXC10 expression and Hp may be involved in the whole process of the occurrence and development of gastric cancer.(2)The expression of HOXC10 in gastric cancer tissues was significantly different from that in adjacent normal tissues,suggesting that the expression of HOXC10 was related to gastric cancer.(3)Hp infection was correlated with HOXC10 expression,and the two were negatively correlated with the survival time and overall survival time of gastric cancer patients,which could be regarded as independent risk factors affecting the survival time and overall survival time of gastric cancer patients.These results suggest that HOXC10 expression may play an important role in HP-associated gastric cancer,and radical treatment of Hp may affect the morbidity of gastric cancer patients and the treatment of gastric cancer.HOXC10 may become a new molecular marker and therapeutic target for prognosis and early diagnosis of gastric cancer.
