| Reading is a main way for learners to obtain knowledge.When one has better understanding,he or she can get more information from reading materials.However,there are serious problems in current reading class.The traditional teaching models can not stimulate students’ English reading ability,which makes students decline in learning interest of reading,and some of them are tired of learning English.Based on the literature review,the thesis summarizes previous researches on reading and status quo of the English reading course teaching in domestic high schools,tries to break through the restrains of the conventional teaching model,applies the Problem-based Teaching Model(PBTM)and some reading theories into practice,and explores how to apply PBTM effectively to the English reading class by conducting questionnaires and teaching practice.The study finds that(1)students are no longer satisfied with getting surface information by teaching,but eager to learn knowledge through positive thinking;(2)the effeteness of using PBTM in reading class depends on teachers’ awareness;(3)teachers of English ignore scientific guide of reading and do not know how to use PBTM properly,although they notice its advantages in reading instruction.In addition,the thesis points out some principles and strategies of the PBTM used in reading class for senior English teachers and gives answers to some investigative questions. |
