Reading is the main source of language information input,and enough language input is to ensure the development of comprehensive language skills.English reading ability is one of the important skills of English in primary school,therefore,reading teaching occupies an important position in the English teaching of primary school.However,there are many problems in the actual teaching process of the English reading.For example,teachers always talk too much,but students hardly participate in the teaching and group activities are much less with poor reading and so on.In order to explore the effects of reading teaching strategies based on cooperative learning on primary school students’ reading interest,reading strategies and methods,reading scores,the author observed the primary school English reading class and conducted a one-semester study.On the basis of the relevant theories,the author took two parallel Grade Six classes in a primary school as the research object,and conducted a survey with questionnaire,experimental study and test.This study aims to explore the influence of reading instructional strategies based on cooperative learning on primary school students’ reading interest,reading strategies and methods,reading achievement.Based on the experimental results,the author has drawn conclusions as follows:1)The statistical analyses of the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental class and the controlled class indicate that students,who had participated in the experimental class of the reading teaching based on cooperative learning for a semester,the reading scores had a significant progress compared to the control class.2)The results of the student questionnaire survey show that the application of reading instructional strategies based on cooperative learning changed students’ reading interest,reading strategies and methods,reading scores.The application of reading teaching strategies based on cooperative learning in primary English reading teaching is a long-term and meaningful work,which requires consistent efforts from teachers.Due to some subjective and objective reasons,there are still some problems in this study.The sample size is not sufficient.While teaching,the teacher’s control of the class is not enough,etc.In the future research,it is worth to continue to explore how to work with other colleagues to expand the research scope,how to design cooperation tasks scientifically and reasonably to better the control of the class and hw to apply cooperative learning in other types of lessons.
