Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini rose from a new star in the American literary world to a well-known mature writer in the world with his second novel A Thousand Splendid Suns,which tells the story of two Afghan women who,with the tragic memories of different times,endure the same violent husband and go from hostile to friendly.In this novel,Hosseini puts a strong female color to show his concern for women’s survival and mental state in the contemporary ethical environment and the fate of women.Most foreign and domestic researches on A Thousand Splendid Suns focus on female image,writing techniques and culture.There are few interpretations of feminist ethics.From the perspective of feminist ethics,this paper attempts to analyze the ethical and moral oppression,the ethical choices suffered by the two heroines in the novel,and the ethical care they gave to others and themselves.This paper includes introduction,theoretical framework,three analysis chapters and conclusion.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces Hosseini and his work A Thousand Splendid Suns,combs the relevant research at home and abroad,and clarifies the research background and significance of this paper.The second chapter introduces the theory of feminism,feminist ethics and its criticism of traditional ethics,as well as feminist ethics of care.Chapter Three mainly analyzes the female character who lost in the traditional ethical environment suffered a lot from social,family,self,thus lost their own ethical identity.Chapter Four mainly discusses the ethical choice made by two protagonists from two aspects: the awakening of female spirit and the realization of female self-value.The awakening of female spirit is mainly reflected in three aspects: immoral deception,violent resistance and self-sacrifice.Based on the previous analysis,Chapter Five demonstrates that caring for others and themselves may be the best guarantee for the survival of women in the third world.The sixth chapter is the conclusion part of the paper.
