English writing is an important and must-master language expression skill for high school students of China.The promulgation of the 2017 edition of the General High School English Curriculum Standard has a new requirement for English writing in high school in order to promote the development of students’ core literacy and improve their comprehensive language use ability.In recent years,although there have been some studies on the combination of chunk memory and English writing in China,most of them concentrated on facts in universities and vocational colleges.There’s a relative shortage of researches on the combination of chunk memory and English practical writing in high school.The paper reviews the literature on the current state of the study on chunk memory and writing at home and abroad.And it analyzes the definition,classification and theoretical basis of the chunk memory.Then the author raises the following three research questions.Question 1: How does chunk memory affect the English practical writing attitude of high school students? Question 2: How does chunk memory affect the English practical writing score and level of high school students? Question 3: How does chunk memory affect the chunk richness,the logicality of the structure and content accuracy of the composition?The author collected data from a three-month experiment by using questionnaire,experimentation and interview.The data was analyzed by SPSS 20.0 software.Based on the data,the author found that the method based on chunk memory has positive impact on the writing attitude of students of high school in their practical writing,it could improve students’ writing interest and self-confidence.It has a positive effect on the writing level and score of English practical writing of high school students,and could improve the chunk richness,content accuracy and structural logic of composition content.Finally,the author put forward some feasible suggestions to provide reference for the teaching of English practical writing for teachers and students in high school.
