| As a celebrated English novelist in the 20 th century,William Golding has enjoyed great prestige for his masterpiece Lord of the Flies,which is the winner of Nobel Prize in Literature in the year of 1983.William Golding is a unique writer for his concentration on everlasting motif about evil and treachery of humanity and the religious experience of man in almost all his novels.Over the years since the publication of Lord of the Flies,a widespread attention has been drawn to William Golding and Lord of the Flies in the field of literature.This thesis,on the basis of the theory of intertextuality,intends to explore the dystopian elements in the novel from three aspects,namely human sins,totalitarianism as well as anti-hero,to explore William Golding’s dystopian view.Through analyzing the intertextual relation with its inter-text,the Bible,1984 and A Clockwork Orange,we can have a deeper understanding of the innovation of writing method and technique in modernist novels.In conclusion,William Golding,by constructing a dystopian world,aims to give us a serious warning,namely if the evil human nature is not controlled,our society will be destroyed.It is hoped that every one of us should be aware of the intrinsic human sins as well as potential political crisis in our society,and take the initiative to construct the social civilization in a better way. |
