Martin Amis is a contemporary British distinguished novelist, named with Ian Mc Ewan and Julian Barnes as the contemporary British “Three Literary Giants.”London Fields(1989),together with Money: A Suicide Note(1984),and The Information(1995),is regarded as momentous trilogy of Martin Amis, which contributes to his distinguished position in British literary fields. The novel tells a story of the charming woman Nicola Six who can predict her own death, and her intentional temptation to two strange men who may kill her. However, they both fail to complete the murder and the final murder task is finished by Samson Young who is the “author” of the novel. The novel not only has ups and downs and is full of suspense, but also adopts innovative writing techniques, which attracts the attention of readers and critics.Since the novel was released in 1989,it has been shortlisted for the “Booker Literature Award” in 1989 and 2003,which is regarded as the highest award for British literature. Many researchers have conducted multiple studies of London Fields, however, there are few studies based on Derrida’s Deconstruction Theory, analyzing the controversial topic of pornography and erotic narratives in the text,to explore the idea of deconstruction. Therefore, based on Derrida’s Deconstruction Theory, this thesis will deconstruct the traditional male and female images formed with gender essentialism as the core;Secondly, through the ironic effect between the deep structure and surface narration of sex games,it will deconstruct the masculinity and femininity in the traditional relationship for men and women;Thirdly,by analyzing the parody of “elegant love” and “pornography,” it intends to deconstruct the value of“original sex” for love writing held by modernist writers. It seeks to explain the rationality of explicit and critical erotic narrative which provided as a method for deconstruction.Besides, through deconstruction,it also implies Amis’ s attention to gender issues and the vitality of postmodern literature. |
