| From the perspective of numerous visual image available to Jules Michelet during his Italy tour in 1830,the first chapter focuses on the original intention of this tour and the arts and historical relics recorded in his Journal.In the second chapter,the author points out the historical imagination inspired by the image seen during the1830 Italy tour,and how Michelet has converted these imaginations into the Histoire romaine and Introduction à l’Histoire Universelle pulished in 1831.Then the chapter concentrates on the impact of this Italy tour on his course ‘L’aube de la Renaissance’in 1839,taking this as an example to explore how the image and historical imagination have a role during the creation and formation of his historical concept.The third chapter puts emphasis on the analysis of the twelfth chapter of Renaissance,the seventh volume of his Histoire de France,in order to analyze the image and historical imagination,which have a strong link with his “Renaissance” concept and how they have helped him to establish the interpretation of history.The last chapter summarizes Michelet’s preference of the image during his historical research,as well as the role of his historical imagination both in art history and literary theory. |
