The Sociolinguistic Study Of Folk Proverbs In Fuchuan

Fuchuan folk proverbs are the crystallization of the wisdom of the people of all nationalities in Fuchuan.As a summary of production and life experience,the content of Fuchuan folk proverbs involves with a lot of aspects which is regarding the people’s labor experience,the way of life,the social life and the life value orientation.This dissertation aims to investigate the linguistic Features of Fuchuan folk proverbs from the perspective of sociolinguistics.Based on the analysis of 674 proverbs collected through field research and literature review and the use of linguistic theories such as sociolinguistics,this dissertation systematically explores the Fuchuan folk proverbs from the aspects of proverb vocabulary,grammatical structure,and semantic characteristics.Further,this dissertation explores the cultural significance of Fuchuan folk proverbs,and put forward opinions and suggestions for the development and inheritance of minority proverbs.The major innovation of the dissertation lies in three points:(i)broaden the linguistic perspective of proverb research.(ii)based on the perspective of sociolinguistics,offer some constructive viewpoints in understanding and using proverbs.(iii)promote the understanding of national history and culture.What the dissertation is going to talk about is given as below:Chapter One offers a brief introduction of the status quo of proverb research,and then elaborate the purpose,the meaning,the path and the relevant theories of this research.Chapter Two and Three examine the linguistic structure of Fuchuan folk proverbs from the aspects of pronunciation,vocabulary and sentence patterns.Chapter Four explains the semantic characteristics and cultural connotation of Fuchuan folk proverbs.Chapter Five mainly provides opinions and suggestions on the inheritance and protection of Fuchuan folk proverbs.Chapter Six is a conclusion of this research,and it also points out the direction for further research.
