A Study On The Female Images Of Cyborg In Hollywood Science Fiction Film

With the rapid development of human biotechnology and artificial intelligence technology,human beings break the binary opposition between organism and machine and form "Cyborg".With the improvement of film special effects technology,the image of cyborg is active in mainstream science fiction films.Hollywood,as the world’s film trend leader,has also produced and distributed more and more science fiction films with robots or human beings as the main characters in recent years.Dual opposing gender discourse gives women perceptual,irrational gender characteristics,science fiction film women continue the traditional gender characteristics.However,in recent years,the status and status of the female role of cyborg has changed.According to the "three breakthroughs" theory of Donna Haraway cyborg and the relationship between man and machine / technology in the film,this paper classifies the female image of cyborg in the film,and collates four kinds of images: virtual data,gene hybridize,man-machine symbiosis,and pure machine.Through the screening and combing of Hollywood sci-fi films and the in-depth analysis of each type of representative works,the author thinks that the female image of cyborg in the film has a changing trend from the object of watching from the perspective of male power to the individual of offensive independent personality,from passive to completely active.With the increasingly rich and multifaceted image of cyborg breaking the boundary,the phenomenon of female image aphasia in sci-fi films has been improved.Through the in-depth analysis of the film text,the author thinks that the female image of cyborg constructs itself through the gender division of human society and identifies with the given gender.However,the commonness of unity replaces the unique individuality of every cyborg image.Sci-fiction films in the female image of the cyborg has a strong force that does not match the appearance,usually presented asa violent plot,violent conflict at the same time,including the match between the appearance and strength of the female cyborg.Sci-fiction films constantly reconstruct the body images of cyborg characters on screen through technology,and emphasize the female characteristics too much on the design and shaping of cyborg woman’s appearance.Through the above research,the author summarizes the three characteristics of cyborg female image in sci-fi movies: the body image which combines mechanical appearance with beautiful female characteristics,the shape design which combines technology with sexual characteristics,and the common plot setting with violent conflict and challenging human relations bottom line.Sci-fiction films meet the deep psychological demands of female audience’s self-realization and obscurely cater to the purpose of male watching and peering.Filmmakers seek to expand their viewing capacity and increase the box office,eventually making the film a sci-fi appearance of entertainment culture quickly disappear.Therefore,the way of self-construction and expression of female image in science fiction film is still a long way to go.
