An Anthropological Study On Performance Of Cantonese Opera In Xinhui Academy Of Nanning

Guangfu culture is one of the components of Han culture in the south of Five Ridges.In the process of constantly spreading and absorbing other cultures,it realizes the integration across regions and ethnic groups.On the one hand,through the spread of Guangfu culture,some regions that did not belong to the Guangfu cultural circle were influenced by Guangfu culture.The most direct manifestation is that Cantonese has become the language of daily communication among local people and has covered the rest.On the other hand,in the process of constantly adapting to the local social and cultural environment,Guangfu culture has gradually become a shared living culture of the local people.Therefore,Guangfu culture not only does not lose its “traditional”characteristics,but also reveals its “local” characteristics in different regions.Since the Qing Dynasty,Guangfu people moved into and lived in Nanning,which gave it a strong atmosphere of Guangfu culture.In the context of social change,Nanning is also a complex region where multi-cultures,modernization and national forces work together.In this region,Cantonese opera,as a specific item of Guangfu culture,became a part of the daily life of local Han and Zhuang ethnic groups.Thanks to the promotion of the local government,Xinhui Academy,which has a history of more than200 years in Nanning,Cantonese opera has been developed into a resident performance brand and has received a certain degree of attention.The local people also watch or perform Cantonese opera here on weekends and holidays.Cantonese opera still maintains the vitality of development in this complex region of Nanning.Based on the perspective of Cantonese opera,this paper describes Xinhui Academy,the performance space of Cantonese opera in Nanning,and focuses on the local people’s cognition and practice in the process of performance of Cantonese opera,so as to discuss how to adapt to the local society and maintain the vitality of development of Cantonese opera.In general,Cantonese opera’s way of presenting dialect and art,its function of education and its combination with life experience constitute the basic cognition of local people about Cantonese opera.It also makes them recall their life memories stored in their hearts during the presentation ofCantonese opera.At the same time,the local people adhere to the tradition through the choice of performance seats,arrangement of Cantonese opera’s repertoire and interaction with each other,and change the tradition with the development of the times,so that life memories of Cantonese opera are accumulated in their bodies,which makes Cantonese opera adapt to the social and cultural environment of this region.In the wave of modernization,the local people integrate Cantonese opera,the traditional culture,into the framework of modern life,and present it in a vivid way in Xinhui Academy.Although it can’t be separated from the participation and guidance of national forces,what is more important is the independent choice of local people.It can be said that Cantonese opera,as a specific item of Guangfu culture,is also a perspective to understand the local society through the representation of local people’s subjectivity.
