Image has become a widely used medium in modern times.This article takes Michel Foucault and Roland Barthes’ image theory as the starting point,combs the aesthetic thinking and ethics dimensions behind the image concepts of the two,and summarizes the common points and differences between the two in writing strategies.The first chapter mainly analyzes the "mythological rhetoric","STUDIUM" and "PUNCTUM" in Barthes’ s image concept from Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory and text theory."Mythological rhetoric" explains how images become tools of ideological propaganda from the duality of symbols;"STUDIUM" and "PUNCTUM" as a set of opposing concepts are a continuation of his text theory.The second chapter mainly expounds the image concept of Foucault in different periods.The Maids of Honoris the key to Foucault’s exposition of the epistemes based theory in his work The Order of Things.The "reproduction" of the classical period is fully reflected in this painting." The Betrayal of Images" is a variant of Foucault’s early "discourse" theory,which reveals the entangled relationship between discourse and things.The Two Mysteries is the germination of Foucault’s "power" theory.In Discipline and Punishment,Foucault extended his power theory to "vision" in "Panopticism." The "gaze" and "gaze" of "vision-image" reveal how the power relations at a deeper level than the discourse dominate the subject.The third chapter mainly expounds the ethics behind the two image theories.Barthes uses the idea of "neutral" to sum up his survival dimension.The "smear" in daily life has become a way of life to escape the power in his "neutral" ethics.Foucault’s "Aesthetics of Survival" gives an ethical way to evade the "sight" discipline,that is,the subject creates a stylized survival dimension through self-technology.Chapter four compares the similarities and differences between the two writings.Both Roland Barthes and Foucault used subjectivity as a clue.But in terms of strategy,Barthes focused on the difference between subjectivity and individual experience;Foucault focused more on how to clarify the problem of the theory in explaining the strategy.
