Hayashi Fumiko was a female writer in showa period, she became famous for his autobiographical novel Exile recurd(1928).After Japan’s full-scale invasion of China,Hayashi Fumiko actively responded to the call of Japanese imperialism, vigorously advocated the war,and wrote a lot of false articles glorifying the invasion of China. After Japan’s defeat,Hayashi Fumiko began to reflect on the war.She once said: "I think the tragedy of the war is unforgettable. This war has taken so long that women who have been through what I’ve been through want to write about it."Throughout her life,Hayashi Fumiko loved to travel. She came to "manchuria" five times, and either in the form of travel notes or in the form of novels, she showed us the appearance of "manchuria" and the living conditions of the people(mainly Japanese)living in "manchuria" from her perspective. The research object of this thesis is Hayashi Fumiko’s creation of the theme of "manchuria".Based on the interpretation of the works, the author’s complex "manchuria" experience and understanding of the war are explored. This paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the pre-war "manchuria" documentary Harbin walks and third class train in Siberia to explore Hayashi Fumiko’s pre-war "manchuria" experience. In August 1930,Hayashi Fumiko came to "manchuria" for the first time and wrote a documentary Harbin walks, expressing her love for "manchuria" at that time.We can also know from the text that Hayashi Fumiko at that time had no sense of war.The second chapter explores Hayashi Fumiko’s experience of "manchuria" during the war, with the wartime "manchuria" documentary cold earth and the novels ten years and fish as the center. Both the documentary cold earth and the novels ten years and fish express her concern for the Japanese people at the bottom and her dissatisfaction with the policies of the Japanese authorities. However, behind this dissatisfaction is the hope that Japan,at the same time of aggression, can introduce some good policies and measures to ensure that the Japanese people are less hurt in this war, while completely ignoring the suffering of the Chinese people. The third chapter mainly focuses on the post-war "manchurian" theme novel egret, exploring Hayashi Fumiko’s post-war reflections.
