| As major female writers in China and Japan respectively in 1930 s,Xiao Hong and Hayashi Fumiko are famous for novels,but they both destined to choose poetry as the original way of writing.Born in early twenties,they experienced great changes under the impact of western culture.Their lives shared many similarities from common social environment to individual experiences.And their works also showed significant common features which stemmed from similar viewpoints and standpoints.In the kingdom of poetry,they acquired the main state of speaking and desire to express female’s demand and right for love;they inspected the gender relation from female’s position and voiced women’s pain and indignation after having been abandoned.After continuing introspection and speculation,they found self-awareness and the meaning of survival.Therefore,they both showed strong feminine consciousness in their poems.There are several factors contributing to their convergence in feminine consciousness: the similar childhood family backgrounds,the resemblance in love and marriage experiences,and common social and literature enlightenment.On the other hand,their poems are also distinguished in awakening extent and modes of presentation,because of different social and cultural traditions as well as special personal encounters,such as different ways for female to gain their freedom,and distinct functions of literature in China and Japan,as well as the differences between their family affection,love viewpoint and literature reception.In conclusion,observing female living condition and mental world by poetry,Xiao Hong and Hayashi Fumiko manifested female consciousness and survival self-discipline in 1930 s.To rebel the traditional literary narration dominated by patriarch,they facilitate the formation and development of feministic literature in China and Japan,respectively. |
