With the advancement of the times,the cultivation of cross-cultural understanding and communicative competence has gradually become the core of the common concern of education in all countries.English teaching is an important way to help students understand and master cross-cultural content and cultivate international communication skills.In order to keep pace with the development of the current global economic trends,how to effectively and reasonably organize students to conduct comprehensive studies of English communication has become the primary consideration and English education in China.In 2011,the “Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards” promulgated by the Ministry of Education listed cultural awareness training as one of the five basic goals of foreign language teaching.And the degree of richness will profoundly affect the cultivation of students’ cross-cultural awareness,and the key to achieve the goal is whether there is a systematic and reasonable arrangement of sufficient cultural content in the textbook.In this study,through combing the theories related to cultural awareness of textbooks,such as the theory of language and cultural relations,multicultural theory,textbook writing theory,and the theory of levels to cultivate cross-cultural awareness,etc.The textbook has a systematic analysis of the cultural content,and knows the appearance of the cultural content in the junior middle school English textbook.The research used the literature method,text analysis method and interview method to study the present situation of the presentation and application of the cultural content of the junior middle school English textbook.Try to answer the following questions: 1)What topics of cultural content are included in the textbook? 2)How is the cultural content in the textbook presented? 3)How do teachers use and treat the cultural content in the textbook? Through the research process,the basic overview of the cultural content in the junior middle school English textbook of the People’s Education Edition is shown.At the same time,the basic views and practical application strategies of the cultural content in the junior middle school English textbook of the People’s Education Edition are also investigated.According to the definition of culture in the new curriculum standard,this study defines the cultural contents in the textbook as: seven cultures of lifestyle,norms of behavior,customs,traditional customs,historical geography,literature and art,and values.Combined with the cultural regional classification theory,which was put forward by foreign scholars Cortazzi and Jin,and the cultural function classification theory,which put forward by domestic scholar Zhang Zhanyi,statistics and analysis of the cultural content in the textbook are shown.Through the text analysis of the textbooks,it is found that the cultural content of the junior high school English textbooks of the People’s Education Edition has a rich selection of topics,but the cultural content in the textbooks is unevenly distributed,and some cultural content lack a sense of time and are too old;There are various forms of content presentation,but there are unreasonable aspects in the grades presentation of cultural content,and the unit parts presentation of cultural content unit is not coordinated.Through the investigation of teachers and students’ recognition and application strategies of cultural content in the junior middle school English textbooks in English teaching practice,it is found that teachers and students have strong cross-cultural awareness,and teachers will enrich the cultural content in the classroom and use diversified teaching methods to present cultural content;for the static presentation of cultural content in textbooks,both teachers and students believe that diverse themes of cultural content should be selected in the textbooks and that they are appropriately presented in different sections of the textbooks.In view of the above text and the conclusion of the interview research,this study hopes to provide some referential suggestions for the revision and adaptation of the junior middle school English textbooks in the future. |
