With the development of computer-aided design technology,more and more designers and artists have created installation art full of dynamic beauty to enrich the urban landscape and attract tourists from all over the world.Kinetic sculpture is the representative of this kind of dynamic products,which have avant-garde aesthetic value and ornamental value.In this article,the author mainly focuses on the challenges encountered in the design of a class of kinetic sculpture with a continuous layout.The design of such products requires designers to spend a lot of time and energy on digital models and animations,which limits the creativity of artists and lacks practical auxiliary design tools to help designers reduce workload.At present,there are few design theories for tool software.To design a reasonable tool software product,user experience designers lack systematic guidance when designing.In response to the above problems,I conducted a literature survey of related theories.Then by summarizing the characteristics of kinetic sculpture,this paper proposes a design method based on the constraint of shape through curves,which is more in line with design habits.Using computer graphics(CG)and computer-aided technology(CAD),I designed a complete parametric design process in this article.Users can quickly generate a dynamic 3D model of a sculpture and simulation animation through a few operations and define a few parameters.Guided by a systematic toolbased software design model proposed in this article,the author designed a high-fidelity prototype interface for the entire tool system.Based on the open-source Web GL library Three.js,I developed the web application KINETICIST.KINETICIST has comprehensive toolkits,including sketching,model generation,animation generation,data export,and other functions.Through user experiments,we found that KINETICIST has qualified user experience performance in the dimensions of effectiveness,natural interaction,and accessible learning,and has practical value.
