A Study On The Motif Of The Revengeful Ghosts In Zi Buyu

This paper introduces the motif approach,cuts into the perspective of the motif,and studies the revengeful ghosts in the Qing Dynasty novel--Zi Buyu,which can be carried out from the following three aspects: the constitutive form,cultural connotation and value construction.Judging from the constitution form,the motif of the revengeful ghosts embodies the steady state and modeling characteristics.The interaction between the accusers and the evildoers in the ghost’s question and the replacement law are fully demonstrated in the dynamic narrative of different stories,and the relative mechanical plot unit formed in the course of the long-term circulation is given a special narrative rhythm by the author’s intentional preference.At the same time,the opposing conflict of binary elements shows the two-process mode of unity of reality and illusoryness,thus having a complete causality.From the point of view of the cultural connotation of the subject matter,the motif of the revengeful ghosts reveals the traditional revenge spirit that still continues in the human mind for thousands of years,and at the same time is closely related to religious belief,life situation and national psychology,which casts the ideological tendency of the people’s ethics and justice at that time.It reflected the desire for justice and the re-establishment of the moral order at that time.From the value construction of the master question,Yuan Mei paid special attention to the individual life.On the one hand,That prompted him to expose the bullying and dark social reality of ordinary people at that time by means of the motif of the revengeful ghosts,on the other hand,enriched the revenge theme genealogy in the imagination of light strange land,and pinned people’s reflection and exploration on the spiritual core behind revenge,which contains the indoctrination of human nature and make right existing evils.
