A Report On The Translation Of Swedish Competition Act(2008)

The original text of this translation report is the Swedish Competition Act(2008)which was first enacted in 1953,promulgated by the Swedish authorities in 2008,and has been amended for several times.This Act is a normative text,the main content of which relates to the government’s legitimate control in competition and unfair competition prohibition of administrative legal acts.In the process of translation,the author found that section headings of the Swedish Competition Act were obscure and difficult to translate,thus it became the focus of this translation report.Section heading is highly general,thus poses a great challenge for comprehension and translation.Through the analysis of the differences in the structures between the Chinese and English legal texts,referring to relevant parallel texts,and under the guidance of the principle of consistency,four translation techniques were proposed to solve the difficulties and promote the readability of section headings.It is hoped to provide a reference for the translation of similar legal texts.
