Since the 1970s,with the development of descriptive translation study which coupled with the“Cultural Turn" in western translation studies, translation theorists put more and more emphasis on the complex roles played by translators in the whole process of translation.Among them,Andre Lefevere,Susan Bassnett,Xu Jun,Zha Mingjian and others have made great contributions to the study of translator's subjectivityThis translation project is based on Methodology of Western Translation Studies since the 1970s.It was written by Li Heqing,Huang Hao and Bo Zhenjie. It is an academic monograph completed in 2005.The translator chooses the translator's subjectivity theory to conduct his translation practice studies at the language level and the cultural level from the selection of material to the choice of the translation methods. The lexical level includes the choice of word meaning, the collocation of words and conversion, while the sentence level includes adjustment of word order and translation of passive sentences. At the textual level, grammatical and lexical means are used to make the cohesion and coherence of sentences conform to Chinese expression and convey the meaning of the original text correctly. While at the cultural level, there exists some situation in which no equivalent conceptual expression can be found in the two cultures, thus requiring annotation and alternative expression Through translation practice guided by specific theory, the translator understands that translation is not a passive stance, but a subjective and initiative act adopted by the translator according to the social and linguistic norms and all habits of two different culturesThis translation practice gives support for practice study of the translator's subjectivity theory in translation of academic writings and serves for a good reference to beginners of translation studies.
