At the end of the 20 th century,Bollywood filmmakers who absorbed and borrowed advanced western image concepts created the new concept Indian films, which challenged the mainstream Indian films in terms of aesthetics and content. The film’s presentation of gender and sex has overturned the conservative and sensitive standards of mainstream films, and the improvement of song and dance clips has broken the aesthetic principles of the Bollywood model. In addition, the continuation of realistic works and the creation of universal values make the new concept Indian films gradually occupy a place in the world film industry. The new concept Indian films had always maintained a good box office and reputation in the global market, and the popularity of the film in heterogeneous cultural countries shows that the film style has certain cultural characteristics. In order to grasp that, the paper starts from a cross-cultural perspective and supported by Hofstede’s cultural dimension theory, carefully reads the relevant texts such as cultural wonders, cultural core, predicament and anxiety in the process of perception, understanding and recognition. The research system crosses the gap between geographical and spatial meaning, and realizes the progress from form to value, from visual recognition to spiritual recognition. The new concept Indian films strives to construct multiculturalism ideas while adhering to the national cultural characteristics. In the mixed relationship between the local and the global, the film’s artistic care of the local cultural resources, such as religion, caste system, slums, trains and other specific cultural themes and cultural spaces, reflects the distinctive national characteristics of the film. The cultural core such as questioning and rebelling against the authority of patriarchal culture, exploring and breaking the realistic confinement of traditional culture, facing and reflecting on the contemporary variation of problems left over by history are reflected the film is an internal reflection on Indian history and culture. When survival dilemma and survival anxiety become common problems faced by modern people, the film’s practical grasp of the predicament of female growth, the predicament of human life, the identity anxiety of the middle class and the poverty anxiety of the bottom class touches the value of human life, shown the concern for a community with a shared future for mankind.
