Research On Performance Versions Of Fantasia For Viola And Orchestra Op.94

Johann Nepomnk Hummel is one of the outstanding composers of the late classicism.Hummel’s "Fantasia for viola and orchestra Op.94,1900" is one of two viola solo works of his viola work,reflecting Hummel’s personal characteristics of classicism in Weimar period(1820-1837).This article will explore Humel’s interpretation of "Fantasia for viola and orchestra Op.94" and the comparison of four performance versions.The article contains an introduction,a conclusion,and three chapters.The first chapter introduces hummel’s life,list of works,and the creative methods of his music works;The second chapter discusses analyzes hummel’s"Fantasia" based on music structure,motives,articulations and personal interpretation;The third chapter discusses the comparison of interpretations of Hummel’s "Fantasia",including Wallfisch(1920-1979),Julia(1983-?),Verney(unknow),and Gerard(1948-?),in terms of performance speed,accompaniment,performance,and embellishments processing,presenting their personal understandings and interpretations of this work;The fourth chapter summarizes the influences and revelations on my performance from the music analysis of this composition and a comparison of four versions.
