Research On Indirect Negative Expressions Related To "Gui"

Through the study of the indirect negative expressions related to “gui”,this paper concludes that the expressions related to “gui” are mainly in the form of “shen me gui”“X gui”“V gui” “gui V” and “gui exclusive forms”.From the semantic level,with the development and change of language,the word “gui” has become a function word of semantic negation.In verbal communication,the indirect negative expression of “gui” is a verbal expression that expresses the speaker’s disapproval of the previous communicator’s behavior,opinion,attitude or expression,that is,the negative expression of pragmatic meaning.And in the communication principle,the indirect negative expression related to “gui” is not in accordance with the politeness principle,is a very low level of politeness means of communication;From the syntactic level,most of the indirect negative expressions related to “gui”can be used as components in sentences,such as subject,object and attribute.However,with the development of language,the indirect negative expressions related to “gui” do not serve as any components in sentences and become discourse markers.This paper is divided into six parts:The first chapter mainly sorts out the semantic cognition and evolution of “gui”.The development of society promotes the evolution of language.The meaning of “gui” changes from the original meaning of “A man becomes a ghost after death” to:(1)A person who has a bad habit or behavior.(2)Evasive,not open.(3)An ulterior motive or activity.(4)Attribute words.Bad,vile.(6)Clever,especially for child or animal.(7)One of the twenty-eight nights.Through sorting out the semantic meaning of “gui”,we conclude that the negative meaning of “gui” is closely related to the original meaning.Chapter two mainly discuses “shen me gui” in terms of three aspects: syntactic analysis,semantic analysis,pragmatic analysis.Through the research,it is concluded that “shen me gui” can be used as attributive,object and subject in a sentence.In addition,the author also finds that “shen me gui” can be used as an parenthesis,which can be a discourse marker.Chapter three falls into “X ge gui” syntactically,semantically and pragmatically.Through a lot of corpus analysis,the author concludes that “X” in “X gui” can be used as adjectives,verbs,nouns,etc.“X gui” is the semantic negation of the truth value of “X” and also expresses the negative emotion of the speaker.Chapter four is the study of “V gui” and “gui V” from the perspectives of syntactic,semantic,pragmatic analyses.The exclusive use of “gui” further indicates that “gui” can be used as a sign of indirect negation in modern Chinese.Chapter five mainly summarizes the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic analysis of the above chapters.The author concludes that the types of indirect negative expressions related to “gui” are: words or phrases,solidified structures and discourse markers and the characteristics of indirect negative expressions related to “gui” : stabilization,solidity,conventionalization and colloquialism.The author thinks that the formation mechanism of indirect negative expression of “gui” is mainly lexicalization,markedness and people’s new psychology.Chapter six is the conclusion,summarizing the whole paper by pointing out its innovation and shortcomings.
